01Brand story

MADA — Research for a Better Tomorrow

MADA began with a belief: research should create lasting benefits for people and the planet.

Our name, Mada, is an Arabic word meaning reach, extent, and span. It expresses our ambition to extend the reach of knowledge—connecting scientific discovery with practical solutions for the places we build, the energy we use, and the resources we share.

The name also carries a personal connection. Its letters M and D reflect Morva and Danial, our founder’s children. They are a reminder that a better tomorrow is a responsibility to the generations who will inherit the decisions we make today.

Working at the intersection of sustainable buildings, energy, materials, and artificial intelligence, MADA aims to turn complex questions into informed decisions and useful innovations. Ecological responsibility and social wellbeing guide our approach: progress should reduce environmental burdens while helping people live healthier, more comfortable, and more inclusive lives.

Our open geometric symbol reflects this purpose. Its connected visual language represents collaboration across disciplines, while its open centre suggests room for discovery and new possibilities.

“We measure the value of knowledge by how far its benefits can reach.”

02Our philosophy

We believe that the way we design buildings, select materials, and use energy shapes the health of our planet and the quality of people’s lives. Research has a responsibility to improve these relationships, turning knowledge into practical solutions that create lasting environmental and social value.

Our approach connects scientific inquiry, artificial intelligence, and design thinking. We understand buildings as part of a wider system of people, communities, resources, and ecosystems. This perspective guides us to consider the consequences of our work throughout its life cycle and across the communities it affects.

We use AI to deepen understanding, explore alternatives, and support informed decisions. Evidence, human judgement, and people’s needs guide its application. Collaboration across disciplines helps us develop solutions that are technically sound, environmentally responsible, and socially meaningful.

Our philosophy rests on five commitments

  1. 1

    Research with purpose

Address real needs and connect discovery with practical application.

  2. 2

    Environmental responsibility

Consider impacts across the whole life cycle, from resource extraction to reuse and recovery.

  3. 3

    Human wellbeing

Make health, comfort, accessibility, and social inclusion part of how we define performance.

  4. 4

    Responsible innovation

Use transparent methods, acknowledge uncertainty, and test ideas before making claims.

  5. 5

    Long-term value

Seek solutions that remain useful, adaptable, and beneficial over time.

For us, a better tomorrow begins with thoughtful questions, credible evidence, and the commitment to put knowledge into practice.

03Our vision

We envision a world where every person can live with safety, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

A world where opportunity is equitable, differences are respected, and access to healthy environments, knowledge, and the benefits of progress is shared across communities.

Our vision embraces the wellbeing of all living beings. We believe animals deserve protection from harm and ecosystems deserve the space and conditions to thrive. We aspire to a future in which human activity respects ecological limits, protects biodiversity, and restores the natural systems on which life depends.

We see technology as a means of serving life. Artificial intelligence and scientific advancement should support informed decisions, reduce environmental burdens, and improve everyday experiences. Their development should be guided by human judgement, transparency, fairness, and care for those affected.

Within the built environment, we envision buildings, energy systems, and materials that support this balance: places that are safe, healthy, accessible, and resilient; energy that is clean and affordable; and resources that are used thoughtfully and kept in circulation. We want the environments we create to strengthen the relationship between people, communities, and nature.

This future depends on participation. We envision women having equitable opportunities to shape research, technology, and leadership, and communities having a meaningful voice in decisions that influence their lives. Education, shared knowledge, and collaboration can give more people the ability to contribute.

Above all, we believe future generations deserve the freedom to flourish on a healthy planet. Our responsibility is to consider what our decisions make possible for those who come after us—preserving resources, protecting life, and carrying forward the values of equality, compassion, honesty, and humanity.

Through research and responsible innovation, we aspire to help build a future where people, nature, and technology thrive together. Research for a Better Tomorrow.

04Our values

Our values guide the questions we ask, the partnerships we build, and the solutions we develop.

01Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

We pursue solutions that protect ecosystems, use resources responsibly, and support social wellbeing and long-term economic value. We consider the full life cycle of buildings, materials, and energy systems, seeking to reduce carbon emissions, waste, and environmental burdens without passing them to other communities or future generations.

02Honesty and Transparency

We communicate truthfully about our capabilities, methods, findings, and limitations. We set realistic expectations, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, honour our commitments, and address mistakes openly.

03Scientific Integrity

We ground our work in credible evidence and rigorous methods. We acknowledge uncertainty, question assumptions, and make claims that reflect what our findings support.

04Purposeful and Responsible Innovation

We combine creativity, artificial intelligence, and technical expertise to address real needs. We test ideas, evaluate their consequences, and develop practical solutions whose benefits can be assessed.

05Human Wellbeing and Inclusion

We place health, comfort, accessibility, and dignity at the heart of our work. We listen to diverse perspectives and seek to involve the people whose lives our solutions may affect.

06Awareness and Knowledge Sharing

We believe knowledge creates greater value when people can understand and use it. Through accessible communication, education, and dialogue, we aim to strengthen awareness of sustainability, energy, responsible technology, and the built environment.

07Women’s Empowerment and Equal Opportunity

We support women’s participation, leadership, and professional growth in research, technology, and the built environment. We are committed to fair opportunities, mentorship, collaboration, and recognition of women’s expertise within a respectful and inclusive working culture.

08Collaboration and Shared Learning

We connect knowledge across disciplines and work with researchers, industry, and communities. We value open dialogue, mutual respect, and partnerships built around shared goals.

09Accountability and Long-Term Value

We take responsibility for our decisions and commitments. We evaluate outcomes, learn from limitations, and seek solutions that remain useful, adaptable, and beneficial over time.
